Battlefield 1 Will Have A Class System

Battlefield 1 has been confirmed to offer a hero class system. The three classes that will be offered in the game will provide powerful weapons and gear at the player’s disposal.

According to the development team, each of the three classes that will be included in the game has been showcased throughout previous Battlefield 1 coverage. Each of these three “Elite” classes provides a unique style of gameplay that caters to every gameplay style. Details on each of the three classes can be found below:

  • The Flame Trooper: This warrior appropriately wields a devasting flamethrower with a particular set of gear to compliment it. There are downsides to his fire-resistant outfit and gas mask, however, as they limit his field of vision and slow him down. Gameplay for this class can be found around 1:15 of the Gamescom Battlefield 1 trailer.
  • The Sentry: A tank soldier, the Sentry carriers a massive water-cooled machine gun and is kitted out in a full set of bulletproof armor. While bullets do little to this juggernaut, he is slow and doesn’t wear a gas mask making him susceptible to more tactical advances. You can check out gameplay for this class in the latest Gamescom trailer as well.
  • The Tank Hunter: The 1918 Tankgewehr rifle is the center-piece around which this class operates. The rifle can only be fired from a mounted position, but it is designed to pierce armor and disable vehicle mechanisms, making this class a one-man anti-tank squad. Gameplay for the Tank Hunter can be found at 1:27 of the Battlefield 1 “Weapons” trailer.

Battlefield 1 is set to launch on October 21st for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. However, a beta test for the game is set to kick off on August 31st.
