Bungie Reveals Its Future Plans For Destiny

Bungie has recently discussed the details Destiny’s next expansion, Rise of Iron. But if you thought that Iron would be the end of Destiny, you’d be sorely mistaken.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, Bungie detailed their plans for Destiny beyond September. Last year, for Halloween, Bungie released a Halloween-Themed event in the game. Fans of the event will be happy to hear that the Festival of the Lost will be making a return this October. It will be accompanied by new mask to chase, and a few other surprises.

After Festival of the Lost, Bungie announced that Sparrow Racing League will be returning in December. It will include tweaks to existing tracks, and also a few new ones from the Rise of Iron expansion. In the interview, Bungie also made it evident about how eager they were to magnify the winter event into something much grander. “When we talk about SRL coming back, it’ll probably be wrapped in a different style, not just focused around SRL,” said live team director Jerry Hook. “Because some of the stuff that we learned from our players around the Sparrow Racing League is that some people didn’t like racing. So, can you do something with the event that helps support those players a little bit differently? Absolutely.”

Bungie is also breaking character by choosing to be upfront about its release plans for post-expansion. In the past the developer has been particularly sparse with any plans for the game. Moving forward the team behind the game wants to be clearer with fans, especially concerning content drops. Destiny: Rise of Iron will be available on September 20, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
