Zoom zoom zoom! Children of the 80s and 90s know the ring-loving hedgehog. This high speed ball of fur ran into the lives of many of us and stole our little gamer hearts. Sega introduced Sonic to us in 1991 and he’s been among the iconic gaming characters ever since.
Sonic is to Sega as Mario is to Nintendo. He is the forever-loved hero with a plethora of games. His spunky attitude and appearance endeared him to us as children. Despite the fall of Sega, Sonic lived on as he joined the Nintendo crew in 2001. His games, although basic in gameplay, were always fun and had us all sitting in front of our TVs or with our handheld consoles for hours. Who doesn’t love running, rolling, and jumping around to collect shiny things and beat up baddies? Later on, Sonic was also brought to us during our Saturday morning cartoons. There’s no such thing as too much of a good thing, right?
And on that note, the cosplay community has been so kind to bring Sonic to life. Manzinat0r brought us a beautiful gender-bent Sonic the Hedgehog. She perfectly balances the femininity of a gender bend cosplay, while still keeping true to Sonic’s spunk with a clever hoodie top and sly smirk.
