Ciri is the heroine, and second playable character, in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Those familiar with the series will be familiar with Ciri, but not with her play style. She doesn’t like main hero Geralt at all. For one thing, she has limited magical powers. But she’s no longer just an apprentice to Geralt of Rivia. She’s an extraordinary heroine with mysterious, ghostly abilities, and a side-story with distinct and absorbing quests.

These quests start simple, but grow more substantial, and seeing the consequences of Ciri’s actions in an area, and then playing them out via flashback, gives The Witcher 3 its own storytelling identity that’s distinct from its predecessors.

Both of Ciri’s parents were lost at a storm at when she was just an infant, and were presumed dead. She first met Geralt when she was lost in the forest of Brokilon. There, she was nearly taken by dryads, but was unexpectedly released to choose her own future. Ciri chose Geralt, but Geralt would not take her with him. Ciri and the Witcher were later reunited. This time, he took her with him to Kaer Morhen, where she underwent partial Witcher training, sans mutations. It was there that it was confirmed that Ciri is a source.

Cosplayer Sernikonator does an impressive job of bringing Ciri to life. Her costume accuracy is spot on, and her leather work is just beautiful. Ciri in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been described by game critics as a “wonderful breath of fresh air,” and this cosplay is very much in keeping with that sentiment. There’s much to admire here, from the detail in the makeup to the excellent sword to the incredible jeweled belt and riveted pants. Sernikonator is definitely worth checking out and following.
