Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag Trailer and Additional Info
Though the announcement of the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise was just announced at the end of last week, Ubisoft has wasted no time in releasing a lot of information about the game. They even have a full trailer available, featuring the notorious Captain Blackbeard (you can tell because he’s the guy with the black beard) telling a room full of piratey types about a pirate captain even more fearsome than he is. That pirate is named Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Assassin’s Creed 3’s Connor Kenway, and appears to be a bit more of an anti-hero than some of the previous main characters.
In typical trailer fashion, it doesn’t show any actual gameplay. Ubisoft has that area covered though with a decent assortment of screenshots and promises, such as stating that they listened to fan feedback following AC3 and will do less hand-holding and allow more experimentation with how to go about performing your missions. They’ve also shown that naval combat will be making a huge comeback and will be even more complex and engaging than it was previously. Additionally, they brought up one of the major drawbacks to 3, the general lack of actual assassinations, and promised that AC4 would have even more than the original game!
In other AC4 news, Ubisoft also announced that the game would be making an appearance on the Playstation 4, which is oddly appropriate when you consider them numerically. Ubisoft has gone as far as to say that the engine developed for AC3 was originally designed for next-gen consoles anyway, making the Playstation 4 a fitting home for the next entry. No word on a release date for this version, but Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will be launching on October 29th for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
