We’re only a few days away from Nintendo’s big Switch presentation, but if Gamestop’s listening is to be believed, one of the biggest franchises could be coming to the Switch. That franchise in question is Pokemon.
This revealtion comes from a listing for the Switch on GameStop’s website, which in turn was discovered by a user on NeoGAF. “Nintendo Switch games will include new title offerings from Mario, Splatoon, Zelda, the NBA and more! You will even be able to play Skyrim on the go, or Pokemon at home with the Nintendo Switch”, the listing says. As of this writing, the listing still has mention of Pokemon, so it remains to be seen whether this is a mistake, a GameStop employee getting a little excited, or something genuine.
Regardless, you’re probably reading this and saying to yourself, “well yeah, it’s Pokemon! Of course it’s coming to the Switch!” While true, the home consoles tend to get spinoffs rather than mainline Pokemon games. It’s possible that now that the system is a console/handheld hybird, a new mainline game in the series will be coming to home consoles. Or maybe it just means that we’ll be getting an enhanced version of Pokken Tournament, which I’m also okay with. Either way, we’ll find out hopefully this Thursday.
