Harmonix’s Amplitude is a crowd-funded rhythm game return to form, taking a classic franchise from the PlayStation 2 days and giving it a modern day twist. Being released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, the new Amplitude is being rebuilt from the ground up, and in a new gameplay trailer posted earlier this month on the PlayStation Blog, it looks like those efforts are paying off in flying colors. In the new multiplayer mode, a total of four players will all play on the same tracks, but they’ll have to fight for position in order to score from it. If you aren’t in the lead, then you’ll need to jump to another track in order to score points. Players will need to keep track of each other and the track ahead in order to plan their movements, taking caution to not fall behind. But it won’t just be a race of who gets there first, as power-ups and items will let players sabotage and jump ahead of each other, making the entire song a battle of wit and reflexes. Amplitude is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 this summer. Check out the new gameplay trailer below.
