Mortal Kombat X To Get At least One Guest Character
Mortal Kombat has always had a long lineage of guest and secret characters. In the old days, characters were hidden to the point that some of them didn’t even exist, in the more recent installations we’ve seen the likes of God of War’s Kratos and A Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Krueger join the ranks to fight for Earth Realm. Series co-creator Ed Boon revealed recently that Mortal Kombat X will be no different.
“I think there’s a novelty to having a downloaded guest character,” Boon commented in a recent Madcatz-produced video. “The chances of [having] at least one of them will be pretty good.” NetherRealm is no stranger to creating an array of fighters, and with the addition of Scorpion to the recent Injustice: Gods Among Us in 2013, it’s not impossible to think that one of DC’s greatest heroes might be making a guest cameo in Mortal Kombat X. Although knowing Mortal Kombat, it’d be premature to assume anything.
Boon noted that although fan favorites such as Raiden will be returning to Mortal Kombat X, the game will feature “more new MK characters since the first [Mortal Kombat.]” He went on to say that Mortal Kombat X would feature a plethora of add-on characters as well. “If you don’t see your favorite character, there’s always DLC characters. [You] can hold out hope to see that we’re going to include them.” Mortal Kombat X is expected for release on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One sometime in 2015.
