One of the complaints people had with the Xbox One remaster of the original Gears of War was that the map restrictions and variety was somewhat limited. Today, developer The Coalition has announced that a new update for Gears of War Ultimate Edition will increase the number of maps playable in all modes. How are they doing that? By removing the map restrictions.
Starting today, there will be a new update to the game, which once installed will remove the games restrictions on the maps, and will allow players to play any of the games 19 maps over all of the game’s official modes. It’s important to note that while this does add some variety, some maps weren’t designed to be played in certain modes, and as such some maps may make it easier for some players to cheat or get an unfair advantage in multiplayer. Thankfully, The Coalition is aware of this, and encourages players to go onto the game’s forum and provide feedback for the team on what can be approved.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition is out now exclusively for the Xbox One, with a PC release coming later this year.
