Nintendo has released a new trailer for their upcoming New Nintendo 3DS exclusive JRPG Xenoblade Chronicle 3D, showing off plenty of gameplay footage including a healthy mix of combat, world exploration, and cutscenes alike. A port of the Wii title Xenoblade Chronicles, and created by JRPG legend Tetsuya Takahashi, Takahashi was also responsible for working on Squaresoft titles such as Final Fantasy V, VI, Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, and non-Square works such as the Xenosaga series and Soma Bringer. While not directly related to his previous Xeno works, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D does have a lot of the high action and fighting mecha elements fans have come to expect.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D follows Shulk and his comrades as they delve into the mystery surrounding the Monado sword, while also fighting off the robotic invaders known as the Mechon. Players will need to explore a vast open world with large areas to venture and discover. A spiritual successor, Xenoblade Chronicles X, is also currently in development for Wii U and scheduled for a 2015 release. Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is currently scheduled for release this April 10th, and is exclusively compatible with the New Nintendo 3DS. Check out the new trailer below!
