When news of a Pokemon fighting game developed by the team behind the legendarily successful Tekken series was announced for Japanese arcades, fans knew it was only a matter of time before the title was announced for a home console. Earlier this morning, Nintendo announced that in Spring 2016, Pokefans will be able to delve into a new kind of battle, with the arcade fighting game making waves onto the Nintendo Wii U. Along with a new trailer released to mark the announcement, Pikachu, Machamp, Charizark, Gengar, Suicune, Gardevoir, Blaziken, Lucario, and others will be making their way to the Nintendo console in a 1v1 tournament fighter starring characters ranging across all the hit installments in the franchise.
This new version also includes the addition of a new fighter, the luchador inspired Pikachu Libre, who is set to electrify their opponents with lightning fast wrestling moves. Pokken Tournament has hit Japanese arcades with resounding success, with new characters added regularly with plenty more on the way.
