Pokemon Go’s New Water Festival Announced, Begins Today

Pokemon Go is getting a new event later today. Called the Water Festival, this event will make it easier to find and capture Water Pokemon.

Starting today at 1 PM Pacific Time and lasting until March 29th, the chance to encounter Water types increases. This includes Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and all of their various evolutions. Meanwhile, visiting an area with a lot of water, like say a beach, will increase the chance of finding several Water types that were originally found in the Johto region. Finally, a special Magikarp hat which your Avatar can wear will also be given out.

Pokemon Go is out now for iOS and Android devices. Besides this new event, a new update was also released, which guaranteed that all players who visit a PokeStop every seventh day is guaranteed a new evolutionary item to help evolve Pokemon, such as a Metal Coat for Onix to evolve into Steelix. The item in question will be randomly chosen however.
