Starting today, the alpha for Star Wars: Battlefront is open to a select handful of people. However, some people, like NeoGaf user JumPeRJumPzZ, have gotten their hands on the alpha have looked over the code and have posted their findings in a thread on NeoGaf. One of the biggest things taken from the leak is that emotes are used to help players communicate nonverbally during matches, such as clapping emote or one that can be used to call for help if you’re low on health. One of the biggest surprises however is that the files show no indication of a server browser, which means that Battlefront will likely attempt to use peer-to-peer online matchmacking, which can lead to increased lag and instability, though it’s unknown if this will be the case in the final game.

Maps and modes in the alpha will include the some content that was shown at E3, which includes a multiplayer match on Hoth and a single player/co-op mission on Tatooine. Vehicles and weapons make references to the films, and include the T-65 X-Wing, TIE-Fighters and Bombers on the vehicle side, and the E-11 blaster rifle, the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol (a.k.a. Han Solo’s weapon of choice), and Boba Fett’s EE-3 Carbine rifle. Star Wars: Battlefront will be available on November 17th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
