3ds

The 3DS is a really outstanding handheld console. It blew everyone away when it first arrived on the scene and it still continues to do so for me. Every time you start to play you feel physically pulled into the world you’re playing in, and that’s the beauty of the 3DS. The games for the 3DS are only getting better this year, which only means one thing, time for a list of the top 3DS games coming out this year!

Super Smash Bros – TBA 2014

Super Smash Bros is finally coming to a handheld console. Long time coming, am I right? Nintendo did it right by putting it onto the 3DS; imagine the battles you could have with the added 3D effect? It’s one of the best battle games out there and you can now take it everywhere you go. Perfection, if you ask me.

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – March 2014

Professor-Layton-vs-Phoenix-Wright-Ace-Attorney

Just the name of this makes me shiver. It sounds like the most fun and intense finger pointing, puzzle solving game ever. The mixture of both games seems like it can go either two ways – it’ll be the best game ever or the worst mash up. I’m opting for the best game, how can they really go wrong? They can’t, that’s how!

Kirby Triple Deluxe – TBA 2014

Kirby-Triple-Deluxe

The first Kirby game for the 3DS and the 15th Kirby game overall, Kirby Triple Deluxe keeps all the original features that keeps Kirby’s character unique. It runs in a 2.5D style and Kirby is able to jump back and forth between two levels within the game. Using over 20 new Kirby abilities, including 4 new ones, this game is sure to impress old and new fans of the franchise.

Yoshi’s New Island – Spring 2014

yoshis-new-island

Yoshi’s new island is the third island game for Yoshi and a sequel to Yoshi’s Island released on the DS. New Island keeps all the old gameplay mechanics and Yoshi can still perform the actions he’s done for years. Using the 3DS’ gyro sensor, you will be able to explore the worlds in more depth and find hidden areas, and you’ll be able to aim at things which would otherwise be unreachable. A variety of art styles are also used in the level design, such as watercolour and crayon, adding quite a unique twist on a classic 2.5D side scroller game. You can always count on Yoshi to star in a fun and creative game.

Monster Hunter 4 – TBA 2014

monster-hunter-4

The latest in the series to be announced, Monster Hunter 4 is home to many different features that really tears this game from the last games. Focusing on the stronger platforming elements, you will be able to move on walls more fluently and you’ll be able to grab monsters and attack them. The environments are a lot more expansive which means more to explore and the monsters are a lot harsher than previous. Exciting! But, the last we’ve heard was that Capcom was ‘evaluating’ bringing MH4 over to everyone else outside of Japan and Korea, so we can only hope they announce a date for this year.

Yumi’s Odd Odyssey – January 2014

YumisOdd-Odyssey

Known as Sayonara Umihara Kawase in Japan, Yumi’s Odd Odyssey is one to keep your eyes on. Using the fishing pole you’re given, you are able to explore hidden paths and find items, all while fighting off fish. The swinging with fish poles to get to higher ground and defeating fish foes just sounds like something anyone could get sucked into for a long period of time. Although only a North America release has been granted, I’m sure it will be available to everyone sometime this year too.

The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup – TBA 2014

From the director of Conker’s Bad Fur Day comes The Unlikely Legend of Rusty Pup, straight to the 3DS and also the Wii U. It’s a 2D puzzle platformer game where you don’t control the main character, but the background behind him to get him heading in the right direction. According to the Chris Seavor, (former Rare developer and former project leader of Conker’s Bad Fur Day), Rusty Pup has a deep and adult story. So if you’re a gamer that gets heavily involved with immersive storylines, be sure to pick this up.

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth – June 2014

A new addition to the Persona series is coming to the 3DS and I couldn’t be more excited about it if I tried. Mixing characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4 together for a journey defeating shadows and unraveling a crazy storyline. Persona is one of the best JRPG’s out there at the moment and an addition for the 3DS is more than welcome.

Rodea The Sky Soldier – TBA 2014

Rodea-The-Sky-Soldier

An upcoming Wii and 3DS action game based in the sky. Sounds a bit hit and miss, but Rodea The Sky Soldier is beautiful looking and looks really fun to play. It’s been in development for a few years now, but it’s looking hopeful that we will get a release this year.

Grinsia – TBA 2014

Grinsia

Grinsia is a game that I’d not actually come across for a while, and being a JRPG fan, it’s only natural to be excited for it. Having the top down angle over the game creates a really retro feel to it, making it feel like you’re a kid again. The battle system is also very simple and old style, which is a nice refreshing change to the systems we have these days.     That’s the top ten list of upcoming 3DS games for this year that I am stoked for. This year is going to be really awesome for the 3DS and Nintendo. Although a lot of the games are TBA, they’re all ones worth keeping updated on. Now my gamer buds, go forward and pre-order your games! If there are any upcoming games that you are excited for that didn’t make the list, make sure you let us know in the comments section!

Mario Golf World Tour – TBA 2014

Mario-Golf-world-tour

The sixth game in the Mario Golf series is coming to the 3DS sometime this year, and though it will be much of the same, enthusiasts for the series will be excited for the new addition. This time around the game will feature online multiplayer and fan favorites like Mario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, Wario, Bowser and more have already been confirmed, so start dusting up on your swing!

Disney Magical World-April 11, 2014

disney-magical-world

There isn’t much released about this game, but with the hordes of Disney fans out there, it is one to keep an eye on. The game will allow players to roam disney themed worlds helping different characters and finding treasures while managing a café at your home base and planting crops. Characters are fully customizable, so you can probably spend hours fixing your character alone.

That’s the list of upcoming 3DS games for this year that we are stoked for. This year is going to be really awesome for the 3DS and Nintendo. Although a lot of the games are TBA, they’re all ones worth keeping updated on. Now my gamer buds, go forward and pre-order your games! Didn’t see your most anticipated title?
