Valve Has Virtual Reality Hardware Up Their Sleeve
It seems that Valve is following in the steps of the Oculus Rift, and has crafted it’s own VR technology. During Steam Dev Days earlier this week in Seattle, Valve showed off their new hardware. According to David Hensley, designer for Tripwire Interactive, the demo “felt like being in a lucid dream state and very much like a holo deck” and “like an Oculus but a generational leap forward.” Oculus Rift’s own creator Palmer Luckey stated that its “the best virtual reality demo in the world right now.”
Pretty exciting stuff, right? Only problem is players won’t be able to get their hands on it any time soon. Valve’s Michael Abrash said that the company is still “continuing to work with Oculus to drive PC VR forward.” More generally speaking, Abrash continued to say “a great VR system at a consumer price” hopefully coming out in 2015, or – hopefully, quickly there after.
