Watch Dogs has moved 8 million units to retailers worldwide according to Ubisoft, far exceeding expected figures and further cementing its record breaking numbers as their greatest new franchise sales to date. First quarter figures resulted in a total €360 million this quarter, a 374% increase from the €76 million last year. Additionally, Ubisoft noted strong growth in digital sales, 84 million or a 149% growth thanks largely to Watch Dogs, mobile games, Child of Light, Trials Fusion, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War. Ubisoft CVEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement released today, “Watch Dogs is now well positioned as a major franchise and we will be able to replicate and build on its success in the coming years. Its sales performance testifies to Ubisoft’s expertise as a creator of blockbuster brands.”

Ubisoft held strong as the second largest independent publisher in the US with a 12.4% market share during the first five months of this year, a major jump from 6.8% last year, where they were only the fourth largest. In Europe, Ubisoft held a 15.7% market share, up from 8.8% last year. Guillemot noted Assassin’s Creed: Unit, The Division, The Crew, Rainbow Six Siege, Far Cry 4, and Just Dance Now as the highly anticipated Ubisoft releases coming in the near future.
