Pros

Fun Twist on Old School Arcade Style games, great for kids.

Cons

Monotonous after a while for the adults.

Wreck-It-Ralph for the Wii is a fun twist on an old classic. Wreck-It-Ralph ventures along with Fix-It-Felix either mashing crates or moving stacks of brick while Felix is fixing things to make way through the obstacle to collect heroes’ medallions to prove Ralph is truly a hero. You may play alone switching from Ralph to Felix or with a friend playing alongside as either character in the two player co-op.

Story:

Wreck-It Ralph the video game takes place after the events of the movie. Ralph is off through various lands to save his friends, collecting eggs and medals along the way. He mashes through whatever is in the way while Felix is there to fix whatever he needs. As you move through various chapters new levels open up making the game more fun.

Gameplay:

Gameplay is pretty simple and much like the old school Nintendo but playing with a Wii remote. After a while, doing the same actions do become a little agonizing for the adults, which is why Wreck-It-Ralph is great for the kids!

The gameplay of Wreck-It-Ralph is a 2D stroller much like Mario games, but also with a little Donkey Kong etched in building the player upwards to the final gate. Also, the Cy-bugs are running loose so Ralph should be out to bash those bugs. To help stay alive, you have to grab the pies. Think of them as the 1-up’s of Wreck-It-Ralph.

When playing one player, you switch between the two as needed. Felix is there to fix anything to help progress your player forward. Meanwhile, Ralph is the basher, and the muscle, getting crates and stacks of bricks out of the way. As a two play together, each player can take turns helping in the advancement. A side note, you will know who is needed when signs pop up with a picture of the needed character.

Graphics:

The graphics look 8-bit pixelated to bring back old school arcade with a modern twist. The colorful world of Sugar Rush is vibrant and intoxicating. Hero’s Duty looks gloom and horrid while Fix-It-Felix looks like the plain yet modern town of NiceLand.

Sound:

The sounds are pretty basic as well. You hear grunting or chatter from the characters and often times; the children get a good laugh out of Ralph yelling “ouch” when he run into something he is not supposed too. The music will also vary pending on which “world” you set your sights on accomplishing.

Verdict:

Overall, for a modern twist on a classic arcade, the music is pretty decent and the graphics are well put together. Gameplay is fun but only to a point for the adults. Children will have fun playing this over and over till batteries run out. The gameplay is repetitive to the point where children will never get bored either. Wreck-It-Ralph is a great holiday find for the kids valued at $29.99 and easy amusement for all.
