Harrison Ford Confirms Role in ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel

It was previously announced that a sequel to Blade Runner is in the works and Harrison Ford had been invited to star. Now, it has been confirmed that Ford will reprise his role as police officer Rick Deckard in the sci-fi film.

Ridley Scott will not be returning to the helm, but will serve as producer. Denis Villeneuve, who has worked on Prisoners and Enemy, is in talks to fill the director’s chair.

Scott had an interview back in November in which he mentioned that the script had been given to Ford, who apparently claimed, “This is the best thing I’ve ever read.” We hope it’s as good as Ford believes it is. The original Blade Runner was released in 1982 and, “depicts a dark and gritty Los Angeles in 2019.” Since 2019 is a few years down the road, the new film that is being worked on will be pushed several decades out. Maybe we can see 2056 or something?
