Has the First Legendary Pokemon In Pokemon Go Been Caught?

According to Pokemon GO players in Ohio, the first Legendary Pokemon has been caught. Reports and screenshots have been popping up, showing an Articuno that has been captured. If these reports are true, it’s the first legendary in the game.

Although there are screenshots and videos (the former being removed from the game’s Reddit as of time of writing), many people doubt the legitimacy of the legendary bird. There has been a recent glitch that causes trainers to catch Pokemon, but with the wrong models. There have also been some speculations that Niantic has released the Legendary Pokemon, in order to bring players back who left after the in-game tracker broke. By far, the most popular belief, is that somebody managed to hack the game, and caused it to display Articuno instead of the Pokemon it actually is. This belief isn’t without reason, Niantic has stated in the past that Legendary Pokemon would be saved for special events or occasions.

Whichever theory you choose to believe, none of us will know for sure until developer Niantic confirms or refutes the legitimacy of the Pokemon. Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android.
