Movie Cosplay: Skilled and Stunning Legolas and Tauriel Cosplays

Since 1937, J.R.R. Tolkien’s legacy has painted the beautiful world of Middle-Earth by way of novelization, and movie adaptations. With the famous author’s writing of The Hobbit, and later the Lord of the Rings trilogy, J.R.R. Tolkien brought to life and gave a different perspective to Wizards, Dwarves, Hobbits, Elves, Orcs, as well as many other species. Through the different races that the man created, there is one that seems as mystical as they are fierce, their beauty matching the caliber of fighting skills. The elves of Middle-Earth are spread out between eight different sanctions, some speaking their own language. Through their differences, however, the Elves of Middle-Earth Elves possess many of the same characteristics known for being agile, graceful, beautiful, and wise.

In the The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, fans were re-introduced to Legolas Greenleaf, son of Elf-King Thranduil of Mirkwood. Though he dwells among the Silvan elves with his father, Legolas is not one himself, at least not purely. While Legolas seems almost unmatched in skill, serving as both a messenger and a master bowman. Legolas proves to be quite the ally, using the traits he was born with – such as his excellent eyesight and ability to hear quite well, and his bowmanship to take down enemies as needed. New to J.R.R. Tolkien’s world was Tauriel, a female elf who is revealed to be captain of a Mirkwood guard. Tauriel differs from Legolas, and a handful of other characters throughout The Hobbit, in the sense that she was not canon in the books, and made specifically for the movies. The intention was to bring a strong female character to the big screen, and with Tauriel that mission was accomplished. Like Legolas, Tauriel is skilled in archery, using a bow and her hands as weapon of choice. When it comes to hand to down combat, the elven woman is a force to be reckoned with, almost unbeatable in close quarters combat. Additionally, in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, it appears that Tauriel possesses medical skills as well, giving her even more of an edge.

With two strong elven characters to look up to – and in most cases admire, it’s no wonder that cosplaying duo LuckyStrike-cosplay would take on such a pair. There’s no denying that Evangeline Lily and Orlando Bloom are two good looking people, perfectly suited for their roles as Legolas and Tauriel – elves being known for their good looks, but LuckyStrike-cosplay has done a brilliant job matching the beauty created by the movie adaptations characters, as well as making their cosplays believable. Playing on the tension between Legolas and Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and striking appropriate poses for both Tauriel and Legolas not only shows off the thought put into their cosplay, but their love for the franchise and respect for the characters. Commending LuckyStrike-cosplay for a job well done is an easy feat, their cosplay of Legolas and Tauriel deserving of a round of applause.
