If the Taken 2 trailer is indicative of the film to come, Liam Neeson may win our vote for Best Senior Citizen Action Movie Badass of 2012.
In this sequel to the 2008 movie Taken, Neeson – who is now 60 – plays Bryan Mills, an ex-CIA operative. Mills once again finds himself in a foreign land, where both he and his wife Lenore (Famke Janssen) are kidnapped by the same group of revenge-seeking sex traffickers he killed in the first movie. Is the premise stretching it a bit? Yes. Since we love watching Liam Neeson pummel bad guys so much, we are willing to go along with it.
In the trailer, it looks as though Mills’ daughter, Kim (played by Maggie Grace) will be picking up some of her dad’s “particular set of skills” as she fights to free her parental units. The trailer shows her behind the wheel of Mills’ speeding escape car, hopping across rooftops, and scooting along a high and narrow building ledge. Like father, like daughter? Let’s hope so.
Taken 2 will be in theaters on October 5, 2012.
