Last week, we brought news of the upcoming reboot, “The Crow” and Alexander Skarsgard being considered for the lead after Tom Hiddleston dropped out of the running. Well, it seems that Luke Evans has indeed landed the role, contract included.

According to Deadline, Evans was the original choice for the role. Luke has also been cast “Dracula Year Zero” and will also be in the upcoming “Fast & Furious 6” as well as Bard the Bowman in “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”.

With his busy filming schedule, it seemed highly unlikely that he would be able to play The Crow, hence Hiddleston and Skarsgard rumors. The film company was so eager to have Luke Evans in the lead that they even shifted the production start date to early 2014 just to secure his role in the film.

The original 1984 version of “The Crow” starred Brandon Lee and was directed by Tim Burton. Again, seeing as the new reboot will follow the path of the 1994 film, the synopsis should go as follows:

“A poetic guitarist Eric Draven is brought back to life by a crow a year after he and his fiancée are murdered. The crow guides him through the land of the living, and leads him to his killers: knife thrower Tin-tin, drugetic Funboy, car buff T-Bird, and the unsophisticated Skank. One by one, Eric gives these thugs a taste of their own medicine. However their leader Top-Dollar, a world-class crime lord who will dispatch his enemies with a Japanese sword and joke about it later, will soon learn the legend of the crow and the secret to the vigilante’s invincibility.”
