‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Wrap Date Revealed

Get excited, people! Star Wars: Episode VIII is nearing completion, which means that we are that much closer to viewing it on the big screen!

Principal photography on Rian Johnson’s sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens officially began last September in Scotland. However, filming really got moving in February 2016, and photography is now on schedule to wrap on July 22nd.

Mark Hamill let the cat out of the bag on Twitter over the weekend:

Rian Johnson was officially announced as the director of Episode VIII back in June of 2014, so he most likely hit the ground running once filming commenced.

Episode VIII brings back The Force Awakens cast members Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and Hamill as Luke Skywalker. New cast members include Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran.

Originally planned for a May 2017 premiere, Episode VIII‘s release date was pushed back to December 15, 2017. The official title for Star Wars: Episode 8 has yet to be revealed.
