Justin Marks, who has been working on Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book, is in talks to write the screenplay for a sequel to the 1986 classic hit, Top Gun. Peter Craig was hired to write a draft of the Top Gun 2 script back in 2012 but, after the unfortunate passing of director Tony Scott, the project was put on hold.

There is not much to go on at this point, but we know that Jerry Bruckheimer is producing the project and hopes it will hit the sound barrier before too much longer. Bruckheimer decided to go forth with Paramount after his contract with Disney ended back in April. David Ellison is producing on behalf of Skydance and Dana Goldberg is executive producing, also with Skydance.

Tom Cruise Continues the Science Fiction with “Yukikaze”

Tom Cruise is attached to return as pilot Pete “Maverick” Mitchell. It is not yet known who will be directing or which other actors will star in the sequel. Hopefully, in the coming months, the wheels will come up off the ground and we will learn more.

Top Gun fans, stay tuned to the skies and we’ll keep you posted on any other developments in this epic sequel.
