Red Power Ranger

Power Rangers Movie: New Title and Name Changes Revealed

The Haim Saban led new Power Rangers feature film has been rapidly filling out its cast of characters. So far the film will star Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger. That still leaves a Yellow Ranger, though that will come eventually.

Saban and screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are still finalizing details about the film. Some details that are coming out is the film will apparently incorporate Saban himself into the title, as Saban’s Power Rangers. Seems like a distracting choice. I mean, we don’t have Coppola’s The Godfather. The title of the movie itself shouldn’t really signify meta narrative like the names of the filmmakers. Not for a movie like Power Rangers, I think.

Anyway, the regular names of the Rangers are changing too.

Callum Oliver – The Red Ranger/Tyrannosaurus

Priya Patel – The Pink Ranger/Pterodactyl

Brian Olson – The Blue Ranger/Triceratops

Oscar Fernandez – The Black Ranger/Mastodon

Teyana Jones – The Yellow Ranger/Sabre-tooth Tiger

This might mean that this will be an all new team of teenagers instead of supposed to specifically be the Mighty Morphin’ characters from the original Power Rangers TV series. Perhaps they’ll inherit the set of Zords and Ranger schemes. The report from Collider claims that the original suits will make an appearance at some point in the film.

Please be good!
