The Jetsons Movie Goes From Live-Action to Animated

We have heard rumors in the past about a live-action film adaptation of the classic cartoon, The Jetsons. There was even some speculation that Kanye West would star. After a long dry spell with no updates about the project, it seems that Warner Bros. is again pushing for a Jetsons movie to be made. However, instead of a live-action movie, the new version will be animated.

Matt Lieberman is writing the script and there isn’t much to go on yet. Lieberman wrote the 2008 short Dr. Dolittle: Tail to the Chief, as well as Short Circuit. The Jetsons gig came to him though after his work on an upcoming Scooby-Doo animated feature. Ruh-Roh.

The original Jetsons cartoon that many of us watched as kids was set in 2062, and followed a futuristic family that was known as “the Space Age version of the Flintstones.” The animated film could be placed around the same time, but what if they pushed it back half a century, or a full century? As long as there is a coffee dispenser in my flying car, this girl is golden.
