If you thought Rocket League was just about vehicular soccer, this new update from developer Psyonix will prove you wrong. The developer just announced that a new basketball mode will be coming to Rocket League.
The announcement comes from the developer’s official Twitter page. “Who wants a teaser for something we’re releasing later this year?”, the developer Tweeted before a follow up Tweet with the image of a basketball themed mode, as well as the hashtag “RocketLeagueHoops”. This isn’t the first time Rocket League has done a sport other than soccer, as a special hockey mode was released last December (and subsequently returned due to the popularity of the mode).
Rocket League is currently available now digitally for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with a retail release on the way soon. A release date for this new soccer mode has yet to be revealed by Psyonix, though it looks to be rather soon, based on the screenshot.
