Celebrate Hedgehog Day With Sonic the Actual Hedgehog

It’s Hedgehog Day this week, and to celebrate SEGA posted to their YouTube channel this morning a delightful video starring a papercraft remake of the classic Green Hill Zone, as well as an actual hedgehog who doesn’t seem too keen on running through loops and collecting rings.

In addition to celebrating our spiny friends, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the azure speedster, who made his original Sega Genesis debut on June 23, 1991 in North America and Europe. SEGA has yet to announce their plans for the celebration this year, but as we near closer to June, maybe we’ll finally get a worthwhile addition to the game series that dates back almost as far as the President of Gaming himself, Mario.

While SEGA doesn’t make consoles anymore, the rivalry between the two giants of classical gaming still continues to this day, with the last entries in the series being Sonic Boom in 2014, and Sonic Runners in 2015. Check out the video below.
