The first trailer for the Jem and the Holograms reboot movie has been revealed and, well, it doesn’t seem very Jem and the Holograms-ey.
The film, which is purported to be a reboot of the popular 80’s animated series, seems to be missing some key elements. Seemingly gone are all of the “high-tech” elements (including holograms, hello) and epic battles with rival bands. From the looks of the trailer, the new Jem will focus on social media and the band members’ personal struggles. Bleh.
Jem and the Holograms arrive in theaters on Oct. 23rd. Check out the trailer and a clip of the original cartoon below!
