Mad Max Fury Road

George Miller Would Welcome Other Mad Max Directors

Mad Max is back on the cultural map thanks to the surprisingly thoughtful, superbly produced fun of Mad Max: Fury Road. And in this modern age of Hollywood, no popular property is allowed to stay off stage for long.

IGN recently asked Mad Max Creator George Miller how he would feel about more films directed by other filmmakers, such as what Disney is going to be doing with Star Wars films.

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Review

“No, depending on who the director is. It would be wonderful if it was someone like Guillermo [del Toro] or someone like that it would be fantastic…There are several. I would say there are three, but I won’t say who they are. I keep talking about this being visual music, you need someone very, very strong on film language and syntax. It’s not just lumping a whole lot of action together without any coherence. Those directors who do that are the ones I always just want to see their movies regardless. I always want to see their movies. Like some composers or song writers, you just want to listen to their songs.”

As for Miller himself, he says that there’s definitely ideas being discussed for more movies but that no definite plans are in motion just yet.

“I’m one of those people who believe in what John Lennon said, ‘Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans’. But all I’ll say is we’re definitely talking about other movies.”

Would you like to see a Guillermo del Toro Mad Max movie? I’m pretty sure I would. Let us know in the comments!
