It’s All About America And Teddy Roosevelt In New Civilization VI Trailer

America has always been a staple civilization in Sid Meier’s Civilization series, and that looks to be the case in the newest game in the series, Civilization VI. But as this new trailer released by developer Firaxis Games shows, players are going to have to speak softly and carry a big stick if they want to win with America and it’s leader, Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt.

The new trailer, which you can check out below, discusses a couple of the game’s new changes, as well as how players who choose to play as America can effectively win. In Civilization VI, civs this time have two unique abilities: one based on what the civilization is famous for throughout history, and one based on what the leader themselves did during their rule. In the case of America, they have an ability called “Founding Father”, which will enable it to earn government bonuses faster, while leader Teddy Roosevelt will grant special bonuses to units that fight on their home turf (such as the American exclusive mounted unit the Rough Riders), as well as gain more culture when it comes to national parks. Speaking of culture, America is more focused on culture this time around, meaning that while it is still possible to win in a military victory (or really any victory for that matter), players will find it much easier to win with a cultural victory with America’s film studios and the aforementioned national parks.

Civilization VI releases on October 21st, exclusively for the PC.
