Marvel Eying Director Ryan Coogler for Black Panther

The critically acclaimed director of Fruitvale Station and the soon to be released Rocky follow-up Creed, Ryan Coogler, is reportedly in consideration to take the reins on Marvel’s Black Panther.

Coolger, for his part, is finishing post-production on Creed, but the sources at HeroicHollywood are confident that A, Marvel wants him for the director’s chair and B, Coogler is interested in directing a blockbuster film, like a Marvel superhero movie.

New ‘Creed’ Trailer Wrapped in ‘Rocky’ Legacy

Two other high profile African-American directors have already passed on the project, namely Selma director Ava DuVernay and Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray.

Black Panther is expected to lunge into theaters February 16th, 2018.
