Marvel Netflix Series

New Marvel Netflix Shows Could Evolve Into Films

Marvel is mashing it up with all of their shows, films and merchandising, taking no time to sit back and enjoy the repercussions of their hard work; instead putting out new projects like there is no tomorrow. With that said, Marvel and Disney have announced a deal that will bring four Marvel characters to Netflix. The deal calls for at least 13 episodes each for “Daredevil”, “Iron Fist”, “Jessica Jones” and “Luke Cage.” If the superheroes are successful on the small screen, they may even evolve into feature films.

Jay Rasulo, Senior Executive VP and CFO of the Walt Disney Company commented on the new shows coming to Netflix. “Marvel has thousands of characters…and it is not possible to mine them all with filmed entertainment. While these characters are attractive characters they are not among the most popular… it’s not likely we would have made feature films about them…though if they are popular on Netflix, they could become feature films.”

Disney owns Hulu, so why would they be choosing Netflix? “This is a really smart deal we think, for Netflix because they’ve done well already with some investments in original programming,” Bob Iger said. “And turning to branded programming is a smart and big step for them and Marvel certainly provides that.”

In addition to the epic partnership with Netflix, Disney is also planning to bring another TV show to ABC. It would come as no surprise if that series ends up being “Agent Carter.”

In the long run, Marvel and Disney have great partnerships with networks like ESPN, ABC, ABC Family, Disney Channel and more. When it comes to a new scripted series, however, many of them wish to pass. Netflix, on the other hand, has proven monthly subscribers who are looking for something to watch on any given night via instant queue.

It may sound like it is too good to be true, but we promise you that there is no going back and these plans are set in stone. Now, I wonder if Tony Stark can make a time machine and teleport us to 2015?
