Minecraft VR Is Now Available On Oculus Rift

Minecraft players now have the opportunity to dive into the world of virtual reality. Minecraft is now compatible with the Oculus Rift headset.

Although the Gear VR is the first Oculus product to offer compatibility for the game, players who desire a more immersive experience are recommended to play the game on the Oculus Rift. In addition to offering more immersion, playing on the Rift offers external camera tracking, keyboard, and mouse support, as well as more render distance.

“We looked at pretty much all in the controls in how you play Minecraft, and tried to figure out what is the best way we can do this in VR with the maximum amount of comfort,” Microsoft studio manager and Minecraft team member, Michael Saxs Persson explains. “A good example of this is the stutter turn, where we’ve changed the turning from being a smooth turn into a 22 and a half degree turn instead. It increases the comfort on fast turning so you don’t feel as disoriented, but you still have the same level of control and you don’t gain a competitive advantage.”

Currently, the Windows 10 version of Minecraft offers the Oculus Rift support. The VR version of the game is accessible through a free beta download for all PC players who own the game.
