Need for Speed Reboot Officially On Its Way

A possible Need for Speed reboot has been teased throughout the week, making gamers speculate over what might be coming. The news has officially been confirmed and it looks like players can look forward to getting behind the wheel in the Need for Speed reboot. Need for Speed — as the reboot has been simply dubbed, will have the elements of the previous titles within the series that gamers love, more over the “deep customisation, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative that pulls you through the game.”

The title is being developed at Ghost Games — previously responsible for Need for Speed: Rivals, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Executive Producer at Ghost Games, Marcus Nilsson, stated, “Need for Speed is one of the most iconic names in gaming, and we’re returning it to greatness in this reboot. Pulling on our 20 years of history and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We’re listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”

It would appear that car culture will be what Need for Speed is centric on this go around, as EA is working closely with its own car culture community Speedhunters — a car culture blog created and owned by EA back in 2008. It will also look at the “world of past, present and emergent trends of the urban car scene.”

A short teaser trailer for the title was released and can be viewed below!
