New Gotham Trailer Offers Ominous Homecoming for Jim Gordon

In the latest Youtube trailer for the upcoming series chronicling the origin of Gotham’s most notorious heroes and villains, Jim Gordon, rookie detective who returns to his home city, finds it in chaos. Corruption and crime runs rampant such that any effort to turn the city towards progress or justice are snuffed out.

The action of the trailer itself show Gordon arriving on the scene of a murder with yellow tape, police cars and dower, weary cops. As Gordon (Ben McKenzie) approaches the tarped body, Oswald Cobblepott/Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova) and Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) are all lurking in the alley, watching him. By the looks of it, this arrangement is meant to be symbolic rather than literal, I doubt even the GPD, corrupt and incompetent as they are sure to be wouldn’t let this suspicious lot get this close to a crime scene.

Gordon nears his partner and superior Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and kneels to pick up a scrap of paper. It’s a headline that reports on Gordon’s return to Gotham, with the words “welcome home” scrawled in apparently blood across the print. Gordon is sure to be closely watched as he takes on this uphill battle to redeem the city he loves.

Be sure to check out the “The Good. The Evil. The Beginning.” Trailer for yourself bellow, while we eagerly wait for the Gotham series premiere, September 22nd at 8PM on Fox.
