New Trailer for Pixar’s Inside Out, Proof of Concept

If you’re like me, you’ve probably been wondering what exactly Inside Out would look like. How exactly would Pixar present a drama about people’s anthropomorphized interior emotions reacting to and dealing with the ups and downs of everyday life and in a nuclear family dynamic?

Well, Pixar just released a new trailer that shows us, and it’s every bit as clever, funny and heartfelt as I hoped it would be.

I love this trailer. I like that Pixar has basically shown us exactly how the concept of the film will play out without spoiling anything.

It’s interesting that Riley’s, Mom’s and Dad’s emotions are all represented as the same basic figures but the settings in their minds are very distinct. The emotions themselves are similar except that Mom’s emotions are all wearing the bright red wire rime glasses that she does and all of Dad’s emotions have his neat toothbrush mustache. Perhaps this may hint at a commentary of people ultimately being more emotionally similar to each other as opposed to incomprehensibly different.

I can’t wait to see more! We’ll get more into the heads of Riley and her family when Inside Out arrives in theaters June 19th, 2015.
