Sega Confirms Valkyria: Azure Revolution, Valkyria Chronicles Remaster for PS4

Following their recent trademark leak, Sega has announced that a new entry in the Valkyria Chronicles will be headed to PlayStation 4, as well as a remaster of the original that was released on PlayStation 3. Set for release on February 10, 2016 in Japan, the remaster will feature graphical updates, the subsequent DLC for the original, trophies, and a demo for the new upcoming game, entitled Valkyria: Azure Revolution.

Azure Revolution is slated for release in winter 2016, and is being described by director Takeshi Ozawa as “largely different on the surface but in a good way.” The game will feature battles in real-time, and according to Ozawa will have players “setting commands to buttons,” a departure from the series’ turn based strategy roots.

“The concept of the battle system and the sensation of the battlefield are the same,” Ozawa told Japanese gaming publication Famitsu. “But because it’s an RPG with simulation elements, you can experience the battlefield through a different perspective. You get the feeling that you’re taking territory from a major power and expanding your scope. You’ll prepare at the base, go out to the field, achieve your objectives, and return to base. It’s similar to an RPG where you go into dungeons.”

No US release date has been slated as of yet, Valkyria: Azure Revolution is set for release in Winter of 2016 for PlayStation 4.
