Silent Hills Shared Common Elements with The Last of Us, says Del Toro

Silent Hills, the eagerly anticipated game by fans of the genre which was cancelled early this year, was supposed to share some similar elements with The Last of US, according to Guillermo del Toro.

Bloody Disgusting interviewed Del Toro, and he talked about his work on the canned horror title, mentioning that he’d viewed the success of Naughty Dog’s 2013 hit as a sign he and the collaborator Hideo Kojima were right on track.
In the interview, Del Toro said “We had a great experience and had great story sessions with hundreds upon hundreds of designs. Some of the stuff that we were designing for Silent Hills I’ve seen in games that came after, like The Last of Us, which makes me think we were not wrong, we were going in the right direction.”

Del Toro was upset with the cancellation of the project mentioning that it “made no f—-ng sense.” The PlayStation Store released a surprise teaser of Silent Hills back in August 2014 by the name of a playable teaser P.T. , and after eight months the project was canned leading it to be removed from the store.
