With the hype of virtual reality in gaming really starting to gather steam again, Sony has decided to capitalize on the hype by hosting a Playstation VR event during this year’s Game Developers Conference. The event will be held on March 15 and is an invite only event.
With the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive already having price points and release dates, we will hopefully hear how the Playstation VR compares in price and when it will finally be released. After Gamestop’s CEO claimed that it would be released this Fall, it will be interesting to see just how on point he was.
It will also be interesting to see just how high of a price point Sony will be asking for its foray into virtual reality gaming. With the Oculus Rift being priced at $600, and theHTC Vive being even more expensive at $799, my guess it not cheap. If can manage to be cheaper than the competition, though, it may have a real chance of success thanks to the popularity of the Playstation 4.
