Square-Enix Releases Benchmark for Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward

This morning Square-Enix released their benchmark for the upcoming expansion to their MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, set for release later this June. The new benchmark includes not only the new playable race, the Au Ra, as well as footage of flying, the Dark Knight, Machinist, and Astrologian classes, but also includes the new DirectX 11 client, and a new benchmark algorithm based on overall system performance and not just FPS.

Coming in at 1.6GB, the benchmark scores will deduce if your system is capable of running the upcoming expansion, with scores of 2000 and higher being enough to run at default settings, scores of 7000 and greater indicate being able to run the game perfectly at maximum settings. Additionally, characters made in the benchmark’s character creator can be used in the main game, and vice versa, with exception of the Au Ra which are not available yet until Heavensward is released in June.

The benchmark software is available here, although a PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 benchmark is not planned as those systems contain considerably less variables when it comes to performance. Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward is expected to drop June 23rd with another early access campaign for pre-orders starting June 19th. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC. Also check out the benchmark trailer released earlier last week to see what’s in store.
