Maleficent first graced theaters in 1959 with Disney's Sleeping Beauty. Seen as an evil witch who cursed the young princess after not being invited to the Christening, Maleficent was a villain among villains. Not much of her back story was known, however, until 2014 when the live-action movie Maleficent hit theaters. A fairy who befriended a human boy, she was betrayed by the one she thought she loved, her wings taken in exchange for the kingdom. This boy grew into Aurora's father, who drew Maleficent's spite to his whole family, resulting in the curse placed upon the babe.
Maleficent started out as the wicked Disney Villain in the popular movie Sleeping Beauty. However, there has been a movie recently that has shaped the way the world views this evil witch. As a beautiful young woman in a forest kingdom of utopia, Maleficent was not a bad guy at all. One day though, she is forced to stand up for her kingdom when an enemy army invades the once beautiful land. A betrayal that causes her heart to turn, thriving only on vengeance. She curses the king and his first born, a daughter who happens to be the key to peace.
Maleficient has taken the world by storm. The 2014 adaptation of the ever popular Sleeping Beauty has really given us a new look into the magical world. The storyline is brilliant and Angelina Jolie makes the perfect woodland faerie. Her beauty absolutely shines and cosplayer Shattered Stitch stuns as the character.
Everyone knows of the classic Disney character, Aurora, who was cursed into an eternal sleep in Sleeping Beauty. What would it be like, however, if Sleeping Beauty crossed with Nightmare On Elm Street? That would surely be bad luck for Aurora, who could only be brought out of her slumber by true love's kiss-- or Freddy could kill her off, of course.
The highly-anticipated Angelina Jolie movie, Maleficent, has just hit cinema screens, making it a perfect time for cosplayers to create their very own cosplays of the classic Disney villain. While we have seen many Maleficent cosplays start to hit the scene, we have been absolutely amazed by LeeAnna Vamp’s wicked rendition.
