Twitch App is Coming to PlayStation Platforms

During the inaugural TwitchCon at San Francisco, it was revealed that a app for the game streaming service would be making its way to Sony’s PlayStation consoles and devices soon. The announcement was made by Twitch’s chief executive of gameplay streaming Emmett Shear, which was reported by Venture Beat.

“But wait”, I hear you say. “Isn’t Twitch already available on the PlayStation 4?” Well, my esteemed reader, you’re right that there is streaming on the PlayStation 4, but that’s mainly through the system’s OS (operating system), and it’s not available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, or the PlayStation TV. This app marks the first time that all of Sony’s consoles will have a dedicated app for Twitch that can be used by streamers and viewers, something that the Xbox One has had since 2014.

According to VentureBeat, the app is set to release this fall, though there’s been no specific release date beyond that.
