Walking Dead Spin-Off Series May be a Prequel

Back in September, AMC announced that a “Walking Dead” spin-off would be coming in 2015. Now, we are getting more details about the companion series.

TVLine is reporting that the as-yet-untitled series “will be a prequel of sorts, one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it.” Like “The Walking Dead”, the spinoff will be set during the zombie apocalype, but will tap into a new, unexplored storyline, set perhaps during the initial stages of the outbreak.

In addition, Robert Kirkman recently told IGN that the spinoff series will take place in a completely different location with a whole new cast of characters, telling them, “It definitely won’t be set in Georgia… It’s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spin-off has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we’ve all sold out.”

Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert will serve as executive producers for the AMC Studios production.

The companion series is still in early stages of development, so stay tuned for more details!
