Warner Brothers Adds New Harry Potter Trademarks: Quidditch, Beasts, Beetle the Bard

Just when you thought the book had closed on the “Harry Potter” franchise, there are signs that the magical cash cow may still have some life in it!

After the announcement that J.K. Rowling will be writing the screenplay for the Harry Potter adjacent book, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, it was no surprise that the title had been trademarked by WB.

Curiously, though, the studio is also trademarking several other Harry Potter terms. The list of trademarks sought includes the mini book “Quidditch Through the Ages” as well as the book “Tales of Beedle The Bard.” The list even includes the fictional characters Newt Scamander, author of “Fantastic Beasts”, Quidditch expert Kennilworthy Whisp, and the Quidditch team names Wimbourne Wasps, Kenmare Kestrels and Chudley Cannons.

So what could Warner Brothers have in mind for all of these various trademarks? We can speculate that it will include magic, movies and a whole lot of merchandising.

While we await more details about WB’s future projects, relive the magic of Hogwarts with this Screen Junkies’ Harry Potter Honest Trailer.
