Captain America's battered shield

Will Daredevil Appear in ‘Captain America: Civil War’?

Just because there is a correlation in the comic books between Steve Rogers and Matt Murdock doesn’t mean that Daredevil will be jumping on the silver screen with the Cap, necessarily. Captain America: Civil War would normally be set up as a solo film but, with casting ideas rolling in, there is always room for one more superhero. While some people are jokingly calling it Avengers 2.5, there could also be a reason that Daredevil is hitting the small screen so early.

Charlie Cox is playing Daredevil in the upcoming series, obviously, but even Mr. Cox doesn’t know exactly what is going on in that immaculate Marvel board room.

“I’ve been reading Civil War – and Daredevil does appear in that. And look – again, just to clarify – I have not been called about that. I haven’t been invited to that party! But it would be very, very cool. Just to be in the background, saying cool stuff every now and then. It would be cool to be with all those guys.”

The Civil War storyline centers on: “the Superhero Registration Act, a law passed by the U.S. government forcing masked heroes to reveal their secret identities and submit to government regulation. This causes a split in the superhero community, and there are massive clashes between those who support the act, led by Tony Stark and Iron Man, and those who oppose it, led by Captain America.”

The Daredevil Netflix series is set to premiere this month, and AKA Jessica Jones and Luke Cage are also on the way. Could these characters broaden the future films in the Marvel cinematic universe? If you think about it, Lady Sif has appeared in Thor as well as Agents. Yup, the team is getting bigger, but only time will tell.

Daredevil hits Netflix April 10 and Captain America: Civil War will be in theaters May 6, 2016.
