Yooka-Laylee’s Kickstarter Backer Demo Is Available Now

Playtonic Games has released the “Toybox” demo for Yooka-Laylee, but it’s only available if you backed the Kickstarter campaign on the required tier. The company also released a short video showing gameplay of the “Toybox,” and it looks great.

This demo will not contain any spoilers as to the actual story of Yooka-Laylee. This demo is a “self-contained, spoiler-free sandbox” meant to let players feel out the game and its core mechanics. “There are moves to try, custom-built props to play with, secrets to discover and yes, shiny collectibles to hunt out and we’ve even included a never-before-seen NPC to chatter with, but it’s only a small sample of the finished production – and visually it’s incomparable.”

The short trailer shows off just a few of the games mechanics, but the game appears to be coming along just fine. The “Toybox” demo is available now on PC, Mac, and Linux. While the game has no official release date yet, Playtonic is aiming for a March 2017 release.
