Zelda: Breath of the Wild Gets Some More amiibo Support

We already knew that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would be getting some form of amiibo support, as it was shown during the E3 presentation. But now Nintendo has confirmed that the newest Zelda amiibo that are out today, 8-bit Link, OoT Link, and Wind Waker Link and Zelda, will support the game in some way.

Depending on which of these amiibo you tap, you’ll get a random effect. They’re as follows:

  • 8-bit  Link will reward you with a random number of barrels. You might find rupees inside too!
  • Ocarina of Time Link will reward you with a random amount of meat.
  • Toon Link will reward you with a random amount of fish.
  • Wind Waker Zelda will reward you with a random selection of plants.

Before anyone asks, it’s important to know that the function these amiibo provide is completely optional, as you can get all of these items in game through normal means (though there is a chance of the barrels and chests holding random rare items). Also, if I’m being honest here, the Wolf Link amiibo, which lets you summon a wolf that can help you fight, is a lot cooler. Still, it’s nice to offer up something for these figures; well, other than look real nice on your shelf.

Nintendo has also said that the game will get even more amiibo support, though what that is remains to be seen for right now. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release in 2017 for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. Also, here’s a gif for some poor fish splashing around on the ground for no reason. Because Zelda.
