Fans have been asking for the ability to play background music on the Xbox One ever since it launched back in 2013 and we haven’t gotten many answers on whether we will be getting it or not, until now that is. Last year Microsoft claimed that they were working on too many other important projects to worry about the background music request and it seems like they will not be prioritizing it much this year either. Xbox 360 was able to use this feature pretty well, so it seems a little weird that it would not be implemented in the Xbox One.
When asked by a fan on Twitter, head of Microsoft’s Xbox division Phil Spencer stated stated that it will not be before the summer. So it seems as if Microsoft is working on it, just not any time soon. Xbox One owners can currently use the Xbox Music app called Groove to listen to music while playing the game, but only with Snap.
