For those unaware, Mondo is the art boutique wing of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas, and they’ve long been responsible for some real arthouse masterpieces related to comics and movies in the past few years. This year, to help promote Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Mondo has added Zoe Saldana’s Gamora to the roster of character who have already received posters, and released it today at Comic-Con to a limited run 225 copies.
After stealing a mysterious orb from the powerful cosmic villain Ronan, brash adventurer turned unlikely hero Peter Quill finds himself aligned with uneasy allies Rocket, a sharp toothed raccoon, Groot, a walking tree-like humanoid, the lethally skilled Gamora, and revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer, and together they must protect the galaxy from the dark menace contained in the orb. If they don’t end up killing each other in the process.
Starring an all-star cast including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillian, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Benicio del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy is the latest in the legendary line of Marvel franchises to receive the silver screen treatment, and is set for release on August 1st.
